Exploring Engading for 24 hours
About
This was one of the craziest short trips so far! I had planned to fly from Hamburg to Bergamo (Italy) in the evening of October 20, 2024. Unfortunately, due to a radar system malfunction in northern Italy, no planes were allowed to land at that time. My flight got re-routed to Memmingen, Germany. After not knowing what's going to happen for more than 2 hours, my airline said we had to organize our own transportation. So I grouped up with 7 others passengers to order a taxi that took us 5 hours straight to Bergamo through the night.
After arriving and looking for a hotel at 3am, I got a few hours of sleep only to get up at 7am to pick up my rental car. Because I was supposed to meet up with Loui, Tommi, Aku and Teppo the next day to head towards the Italian Dolomites, I only had 24 hours to drive up to Engadin (Switzerland), experience the area and head back towards Bergamo.
My goal for this super short trip was to see the beautiful larch trees that during that time were colored in pure orange. With the sun shining and blue skies I experienced a scenery that was absolutely amazing. I drove up to different lakes and viewpoints, stayed up as long as I could and rose early in the morning again to see the sunrise.
Despite the stress on the way to my destination this short trip was so worth it! I will definitely come back some day with more time.
